Carl F. Bucherer Novelties 2020

With a new range of watches for every occasion, Carl F. Buchere makes a splash. Read on to find out how.

Last month, the Lucerne-based Swiss watch brand Carl F. Bucherer announced the arrival of their 2020 timepieces. The brand has been steadily growing in India with an massive increase in the number of point of sales across the country. It has made a name for itself in the ever-growing Indian market.

Due to the coronavirus crisis that hit the world in the early months of 2020, Carl F. Bucherer has been one of the many brands that have paused, taken a step back and evaluated their next course of action. This reevaluation at the existing processes has affected the Novelties that they presented in late August. It showcases the brand's direction towards evolution, further development on existing timepieces and changes according to their growth and customer feedback. Keeping this in mind, this year their offerings are based on the theme of evolution and improvement.

Here are the 2020 releases from Carl F. Bucherer:

PATRAVI TRAVELTEC COLOUR EDITION FOURS SEASONS

For 2020, Carl F. Bucherer brings us their popular watch in bright colourful variations dedicated o the four seasons. The Patravi TravelTec Colour Edition Four Seasons celebrates the the beauty of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Its features timepieces in bright bold colours that represent the changing season. The “Spring” (green), “Summer” (yellow), “Autumn” (orange), and “Winter” (blue) variants also offer three different timezones and an ingenious COSC-certified chronograph.

Crafted in an ultra-robust stainless steel case of 46mm, the Patravi TravelTec Colour Edition Four Seasons features a bright dial with two chronograph counters, a small-seconds dial and central hour and minute hands. Powered by the technical marvel CFB 1901.1 caliber that offers a power reserve of 42 hours, the Patravi TravelTec Colour Edition Four Seasons is available in rubbers straps of the same colour of the different seasonal models.

HERITAGE TOURBILLON DOUBLEPERIPHERAL

A homage to more than 130 years of watchmaking, the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral is a timepiece that showcases the brand's watchmaking capability and art. Introduced earlier in 2018 in rose gold, for 2020 Carl F. Bucherer launches the 88-piece limited edition timepiece in an elegant white gold version.

Sitting at an appropriate 42mm white gold case, the watch features a silver dial that is gracefully restrained. It houses a tourbillon cage at 12 o'clock that draws our first attention ( as was the intention). The sunburst finish of the silver dial and its appliquéd diamond-shaped indices further allows the tourbillon to stand out and make an impression. On the caseback sits an elaborate engraving of a city view of Lucerne – an ode to Carl F. Bucherer's home. At the centre of the intricate engraving – the result of more than two weeks of meticulous craftsmanship – is the Chapel Bridge, the landmark of the city. A swan floating on the water is reminiscent of Schwanenplatz, the place where Carl F. Bucherer opened his first watch and jewellery business in 1888.

The watch is powered by the in-house CFB T3000 caliber, in which both the tourbillon and automatic winding system are peripherally mounted, a technology perfected by Carl F. Bucherer and protected by patents. It is available in a hand-stitched Louisiana alligator leather in dark brown.

MANERO AUTODATE LOVE

A joint creation between Carl F. Bucherer and their Brand Ambassador – the world-famous Chinese actress Li Bingbing – the Manero AutoDate LOVE is a timepiece highlighting a love for detail and a good cause. The LOVE is available in nine different variations that feature a range of quality like bold colours, graceful details, finest quality and most important of all, a charitable cause. The collection is inspired by Li Bingbing’s charitable foundation L.O.V.E. Responsible Life.

Apart from literally taking its name from Li Bingbing’s charitable foundation L.O.V.E. Responsible Life, the timepiece also features a leaf – the charity's emblem on the dial. This symbolises environmental protection and a plea for more humane values. It is integrated into the small-seconds subdial which also creates a pleasant aesthetic for the watch.

The collection has a total of nine models, each equipped with a personality of its own. From its dial colours to the materials used for the case, each and every timepiece in the Manero AutoDate LOVE collection is meticulously designed and represents an elegance only Carl F. Bucherer can bring to its timepieces. Sitting at a sturdy 35mm case size and strapped to Louisiana alligator-leather straps in red, petrol blue, and purple or a stainless- steel/18 k rose gold or stainless-steel bracelet, the Manero AutoDate LOVE is a must-have for women watch collectors across the globe.

PATRAVI SCUBATEC BLACK

Following the success of the Black Manta Special that was launched last year, Carl F. Bucherer introduces its all black watch for 2020 – the Patravi ScubaTec Black. Dedicated to sports enthusiasts, the timepiece is a wonderful reminder of the popular Patravi ScubaTec – this time in all black and noble cause attached to it. This diving marvel is striking, powerful and resilient. It features a 500m water resistance, certified chronometer precision that is powered by a reliable CFB 1950.1 caliber that clocks in a power reserve of 38 hours.

The all black design of the Patravi ScubaTec Black includes a 44mm titanium case with black DLC coating, a unidirectional rotating bezel made from scratch-resistant black ceramic, a black finely structured dial with black indices with ample Super-LumiNova coating. The DLC-coated titanium case back shows a detailed engraving of the creature that inspired the timepiece: the black manta ray. This comes at the heels of the brand's longstanding partnership with the Manta Trust charitable organisation. Strapped to a black rubber strap whose textile inserts are made fro 100% recycled plastic bottles recovered from the ocean, the Patravi ScubaTec Black is versatile, superbly suave and responsible to the environment.
