With the devastation caused by the unprecedented wildfires in Australia, Zenith proudly took part in the Time+Tide Watches’ ‘Watch & Act!’ World Watch Auction in aid of the Australian bushfire crisis. The auction ran for 10 days on a online platform (invaluable.com) and together raised a total of 200,000 AUD.
While the auction featured 24 watches from 22 brands, Zenith contributed with a unique Zenith Pilot watch that was based on its recently released Pilot Type 20 Rescue line – the Pilot Type 20 “Australian Rescue”. Dedicated to the brave individuals who are fearlessly fighting the bushfires by lending a helping hand, the Pilot Type 20 “Australia Rescue” is an apt timepiece.
It features a 45mm bronze case with a steel caseback engraved with the Canadair CL-415, an amphibious aircraft used for water-bombing fires that has been instrumental in reference to the Australian Fires. The slate-grey toned sunray pattern dial houses oversized Arabic numerals in Super-LumiNova SLN C1 and rhodium-plated hands that are faceted and coated with Super-LumiNova SLN C1. This special timepiece is powered by the Elite 679 automatic and clocks in a power reserve of 50 hours. Strapped to a black vintage calfskin leather strap with rivets, the Pilot Type 20 “Australian Rescue” combines a sleek contemporary design with a vintage charm of the early pilots watches.
All proceeds of the sale will be distributed across five charities, two rural fire services groups, two wildlife rescue groups and one fund created specifically for the south-east region of Victoria, which has been particularly hard-hit.
