The MB&F X Eddy Jaquet LM Split Escapement puts forward for the first time the work of a traditional artisan.

Since the last 15 years, MB&F has collaborated with many talented artists and watchmakers across the globe. This time around, MB&F collaborates with Eddy Jaquet – a recognised artisan who is the best storyteller working through the medium of dial engraving. The result of this collaboration is the 8-piece limited edition LM Split Escapement ‘Eddy Jaquet’ Limited Edition. A timepiece that features the extraordinary imagination and skill of the well- known engraver in depicting the novels of Jules Verne.

MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser says, “We’ve worked with Eddy for years, but getting Eddy Jaquet to engrave names on movements is like playing Für Elise on a Stradivarius violin — you couldn’t imagine a more modest use of such an amazing gift.”

Characterised by its scope and ambition, the LM Split Escapement Eddy Jaquet Limited Edition is a work of art symbolising the writing of Jules Verne – the prolific 19th century French author. Eddy devoured all his books and short stories. eight of his best stories are illustrated in the watch. From the popular Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seato the lesser-known The Adventures Of Captain Hatteras, eight of his best stories have been illustrated in the watch.

Jaquet has used the dial plate as his artistic canvas for engraving. Each of his work is an intricate tableau of scenes and key moments from the stories, synthesised in the imagination of Jaquet and expressly designed to be interpreted through the medium of the LM SE engine. To accommodate the engravings, the dial also features a new, openworked date and power-reserve subdials along with wider dial plates, a thinner bezel and reworked case dimensions.

The eight Jules Verne stories illustrated in the series are: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea, From The Earth To The Moon, Around The World In Eighty Days, Five Weeks In A Balloon, The Adventures Of Captain Hatteras, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, Michael Strogoff and Robur The Conqueror. Each of the eight unique pieces comes in an 18K redgold case.
