Adding to its partnerships-based timepieces, Hölstein-based brand Oris has added a watch to its Aquis watch line – the Dat Watt Limited Edition II.
The timepiece resumes the brand’s collaboration with the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS), a trilateral organisation that works to conserve the Wadden Sea stretching across 11,500 km sq of Northern Europe. Wadden Sea (locally called Dat Watt) is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the world’s most extensive unbroken tidal flats system and is an important ecosystem that’s home to 10,000 species of flora and fauna. The collaboration also aims to encourage youth to join the mission with the Change for the Better initiative.
“At Oris, our focus on bringing Change for the Better grows sharper all the time,” says Rolf Studer, co-CEO, Oris.
Joining the Oris Aquis line of diving watches, the green-coloured dial of the Oris Dat Watt Limited Edition II is reminiscent of the salt marshes of the Wadden Sea. The 43.5mm stainless steel case features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a grey tungsten insert. The dial features hands and indices filled with Super-LumiNova®, along with the small seconds at 9 o’clock as an indicator for the diver that the watch is working. At the centre lies the 360-degree date indicator with a white dash that rotates to show the date over a 31-day period. Domed sapphire glass, with anti-reflective coating on both sides, shields the dial.
The caseback of the watch is covered and bears the engravings of the birds flying over the sea with the letters ‘DAT WATT LIMITED EDITION’. The watch is powered by Oris 743 automatic movement offering about 38 hours of reserve with functions including date corrector, fine timing device and stop-second. A stainless steel bracelet with clasp extension flanks the case, and comes along with an additional blue strap. The timepiece is water-resistant for up to 300 metres.
Limited to 2009 pieces (indicative of the year when the Wadden Sea received the UNESCO World Heritage Site status), each watch comes in a special presentation box and is priced at approx. ₹2,70,000.
