Following the success of its Ram Janmabhoomi timepiece, Jacob & Co. has introduced the Shri Ramchandra Limited Edition, a new creation inspired by the story of Lord Ram. Based on the brand’s Astronomia Solar, the watch brings together representations of Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman, and the Ayodhya Ram Temple in a three-dimensional celestial display. Limited to just three pieces worldwide, the timepiece combines religious symbolism with the brand’s approach to high watchmaking.
Housed in a 45.5 mm 18-karat rose gold case, the Shri Ramchandra features figurines of Lord Ram, seated at the six o’clock position, and Lord Hanuman at nine o’clock. Between them is a blue lacquered Earth that rotates on its axis once every 60 seconds, effectively serving as the running seconds display. At 12 o’clock, a one-minute flying tourbillon mirrors this rotation.
The watch’s hours and minutes are displayed on an off-centred dial made of orange fire opal, with hands crafted in 5N rose gold. At the centre of the display, an orange cubic zirconia, cut in Jacob & Co.’s signature Jacob-cut style, represents the sun. The Ayodhya Ram Temple is incorporated into the intricate arrangement, completing the watch’s theme.
Powering the Shri Ramchandra is the in-house, hand-wound Jacob & Co. JCAM42 calibre. Comprising 295 components, the movement offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The watch features a single-piece sapphire crystal case band extending around its sides, complemented by a domed sapphire crystal that provides an unobstructed view of the display. Skeletonised lugs secure a blue alligator leather strap, fitted with a gold deployant clasp.
The rose gold caseback features a custom plate engraved with the words “Jai Shri Ram”, adding a final detail to the timepiece. It is a limited production of three pieces.
