Luxury watch expert and founder of AKLC (Anita Khatri Luxury Consulting), Anita Khatri, has launched her first-ever coffee table book, Anita Khatri – A Sense of Time. Conceived as the inaugural edition of an annual series, the book brings together everything from the world of chronographs, offering a comprehensive and visually rich exploration of one of watchmaking’s most celebrated complications. Unveiled in late October, the book is priced at INR 18,000.
This is not Khatri’s first foray into publishing. In 2009, she authored World of Haute Horology, a concise booklet that explained the terminology defining fine watchmaking. With A Sense of Time, however, Khatri takes a far more expansive and immersive approach.
The book focuses exclusively on the world of chronographs. From explaining what a chronograph is to tracing the history of the complication, detailing its various types, evolution, and mechanical workings, the book covers the subject in depth. Illustrated with striking visuals, it balances technical insight with accessible storytelling, making it equally engaging for seasoned collectors and newcomers to horology. Adding industry perspective are contributions from leading watch executives, including Benoît de Clerck, CEO of Zenith, and Laurent Lecamp, Managing Director of the Montblanc Watch Division, both of whom share their personal appreciation for chronographs and their significance within modern watchmaking.

Beyond the industry, A Sense of Time also weaves in cultural and personal narratives through interviews with well-known personalities such as Kiara Advani, Gautam Gambhir, Shilpa Shetty—who also launched the book alongside Khatri at a Mumbai event—Harbhajan Singh, Vijay Varma, Harman Baweja, and Mahesh Bhupati. These conversations explore their personal chronographs and what draws them to the complication, adding a human and emotional layer to the book.
Collectors, too, are given ample space. The book features insights from discerning names such as Dhruv Chirogpekar, co-founder of Collective Artists Network; restaurateur Amit Mulchandani; orthopaedic surgeon Dr Fahad Sheikh; and Harshad Chavan, Managing Director of Toast Events, among others, who discuss their favourite chronograph models and collections.
Highlighting key chronograph milestones from 1816 to 2023, the book offers a holistic view of the complication’s journey. “A Sense of Time is more than just a book, it’s a reflection of three decades of my passion for watches and storytelling. Each page captures the essence of what makes horology so captivating, design, craftsmanship, and the human connection we build with time itself,” Khatri shared.
Thoughtfully curated and executed, Anita Khatri – A Sense of Time is an essential addition for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of watches—and, naturally, for enthusiasts who cherish keeping everything watch-related close to their heart.
