After launching the first timepiece, the ceramic 45mm Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black, at the start of the year, Hublot has now unveiled the second edition of this collaboration with the renowned Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami. The new watch is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow, once again based on the smiling flower, the theme for Murakami’s work. Only this time, the design moves from all-black to colour, with a transparent sapphire case.
Limited to just 100 pieces, the microblasted rhodium plated dial of the watch, like its predecessor, has a rotating flower design, where the 12 petals move. These are now set with 487 stones representing the colours of the rainbow: Rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, yellow, and orange sapphires. Another difference between the first and second model is the case: The new watch has a sapphire case, which is something of a Hublot signature this year. Although, the characteristic features of the 45mm Classic Fusion model is a familiar one, the sapphire gives this model a distinctive identity, making it possible to see the movement.
