Geneva Watch Days 2022: Ulysse Nardin’s new offerings

Celebrating its innovative silicium technology, Ulysse Nardin at Geneva Watch Days 2022 has introduced two watches - the Blast Rainbow and Lady Diver Rainbow
Since its launch in 2020, the Geneva Watch Days has quickly catapulted to become one of the most significant watch events in the industry. Following its ‘phygital’ format—that is blending digital experiences with physical ones—this year it brings together a whopping 40 watch brands that showcase their latest offerings along with a display of their skilful craftsmanship and creativity. One of the foremost watchmakers to participate in Geneva Watch Days is Ulysse Nardin, which has introduced two brand-new watches that take inspiration from the iridescent rainbow colours of silicium.

Ulysse Nardin was the first watchmaker to introduce a timepiece with silicium escapement components in 2001. The innovative material created quite a stir back in the day as it is totally non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant, light in weight, and elastic. Moreover, it requires no lubrication thanks to a silicium dioxide layer that hardens and stabilizes the parts and makes them insensitive to thermal variations. It is to these unique properties that the Swiss watchmaker’s all-new Blast Rainbow and Lady Diver Rainbow pay homage.

Blast Rainbow

Housed in a 45mm black DLC titanium case, the Ulysse Nardin Blast Rainbow features a total of 50 rubies and sapphire baguette gemstones, which are studded on its bezel and indexes and exude a charming look. Not only this, the timepiece comes with a perfectly balanced skeleton dial with a micro-rotor in platinum placed at 12 o’clock while the flying tourbillon is located at six o’clock. Powered by the Calibre UN-172 with silicium technology, the Blast Rainbow can run automatically for around 72 hours and paired with a velvet rubber strap. Additionally, it is limited to just 50 units.

Lady Diver Rainbow

Available in black or white, the Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver Rainbow is the next generation model of the Lady Diver that was first launched in 2019. The new Ulysse Nardin watch is decorated with forty different stones (ruby, aquamarine, topaz, tsavorite and sapphire) on its unidirectional bezel, which makes for a dazzling spectacle. Apart from this, there are also 11 diamonds studded on the dial and they serve as hour indices and increase the scintillating effect of the watch. Sized at 39mm, the Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver Rainbow is equipped with the self-winding UN-816, featuring silicium technology, and offers a power reserve of up to 42 hours. Meanwhile, the new Ulysse Nardin watch is water resistant to 300m.
