Three Zenith DEFY Skyline editions go icy blue

The three new ice blue DEFY Skylines include one 41mm and two 36mm boutique-exclusive timepieces. With it, the brand’s online boutique also gets a new strap service in select countries.
Expanding one of its most buzzing collections, Zenith has added three new timepieces to the DEFY Skyline in a fresh icy blue colour. The new pieces are a part of the brand’s Boutique Edition watches, and include one 41mm version and two 36mm versions, one of which is diamond-studded.

The new models take inspiration from the early DEFY timepieces from 1969, featuring angular stainless steel cases and dodecagonal bezels. All of the timepieces have an ice blue sunray dial with a four-pointed starry sky pattern laid all over it. The baton hour markers and hands are plated with ruthenium and coated with Super-LumiNova SLN C1. The 3 o’clock features the date window, where the date wheel is blued to match the theme. However, the 41mm model also has a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock. One of the 36mm models (Ref. 16.9400.670/15.I001) is decorated with 52 VVS brilliant-cut diamonds that are set on its bezel.

The timepieces are driven by the brand’s in-house automatic manufacture movements. The 41mm is equipped with an automatic El Primero 3620 calibre beating at 5Hz and offers a power reserve of about 60 hours. The calibre features a satin-finished oscillating weight. Powering the 36mm models is the Elite 670 automatic movement beating at a frequency of 4Hz with a reserve of approximately 50 hours. The oscillating weight in these two is star-shaped with a satin finish.

The timepieces are built with a water resistance of 50 metres and are flanked with stainless steel bracelets with an additional blue rubber strap with a distinguished starry sky pattern. With the introduction of the new timepieces, Zenith has also brought a wide variety of straps that can be purchased on its online stores. Europe is the first to have this service; it will then be introduced in North America, followed by Japan in September.

The watches are available to buy at Zenith boutiques with the 41mm (Ref. 03.9300.3620/15.I001) priced at ₹8,14,000 (approx.), the 36mm without diamonds (Ref. 03.9400.670/15.I001) at ₹7,68,000 (approx.) and with diamonds (Ref. 16.9400.670/15.I001) at ₹10,89,000 (approx).
