Watches and Wonders 2024: Chopard’s L.U.C and Alpine Eagle get new models along with gemset timepieces

There are also additions to the L’Heure du Diamant, Happy Sport, and IMPERIALE line
From classic and elegant to gemset watches, Chopard has something for all in its new releases. The brand’s most sought-after lines get new timepieces, which include the L.U.C XPS Forest Green, Alpine Eagle XL Chrono, and the Happy Sport. The IMPERIALE and L’Heure du Diamant collections for women also extend with new additions.

L’Heure du Diamant
The L’Heure du Diamant jewellery watch collection of the brand gets a new timepiece with the 26mm watch crafted in ethical gold and studded with diamonds on the bezel in crown setting. The dial is adorned with mother-of-pearl and accentuated by diamond-set hour markers. The leaf-shaped hours and minutes hands are rhodium-plated.
The new manual-winding Chopard 10.01-C movement powers the watch offering it about 45 hours of reserve. This movement is the brand’s smallest and thinnest to date with a diameter of 15.70 mm and thickness of 2.90 mm. The case is flanked with a satin strap that conforms to the wearer’s wrist.

L.U.C XPS Forest Green
The new L.U.C XPS Forest Green is the newest elegant watch in one of Chopard’s most popular collections. The 40mm case is crafted in Lucent Steel™, the brand’s very own alloy made with at least 80% recycled materials. The forest green dial is made of brass with a sunburst satin-brushed finish and features concentric circles. All markings on the dial are in an off-white hue. The hours and minutes hands are dauphine-shaped and the small seconds lie at 6 o’clock featuring a triangular hand with the stop seconds function.

Automatic L.U.C 96.12-L movement drives the watch with about 45 hours of power reserve. There are twin-stacked barrels (Chopard Twin technology) and a bidirectional 22K gold micro-rotor. Côtes de Genève motif adorns the bridges which is visible through the exhibition caseback. Hand-sewn brown calfskin leather strap with ecru stitching flanks the case closed with a pink buckle in Lucent Steel™.

IMPERIALE
The maison has introduced a new model in the IMPERIALE collection crafted for women. This gem set timepiece is made with ethical 18K white gold in a case size of 36mm. The collection’s significant design codes are carried in the new model which includes dagger hands, ancient columns-shaped lugs, and the lotus-flower crown. The bezel, lug covers, cabochons, and crown are all adorned with diamonds. At the base of the dial rests the deep blue-green enamel with raised white gold forming arabesque pattern filled with white enamel and at their intersections are pink mother-of-pearl flowers and padparadscha sapphires.
In-house automatic Chopard 96.17-C movement drives the time-only function which is visible through the exhibition caseback, and is designed with Chopard Twin technology (forming twin barrels). The power reserve is 65 hours. A blue-green alligator leather strap with a diamond-set 18K white gold buckle completes the timepiece.

Happy Sport
One of Chopard’s most sought-after collections, the Happy Sport, gets two new limited-edition models at the Watches and Wonders 2024. The 33mm timepieces are crafted in Lucent SteelTM and come in two colours, flamboyant pink and luminous blue, which are complemented by two pink tourmalines or aquamarines respectively over the silver-toned dial, along with three diamonds in each. The centre of the dial features a guilloché pattern and the cone-shaped hour and minute hands, baton-shaped seconds hand, and hour markers further complete the colour scheme which is obtained by PVD treatment.
Housed inside this ladies’ watch is the in-house automatic Chopard 09.01-C movement offering about 42 hours of reserve. The watches come with an alligator leather strap in glossy fuchsia pink or pale blue as per their colour model, with tone-on-tone stitching, and completed by a pin buckle in Lucent SteelTM. Both models are limited to 250 pieces each.

Alpine Eagle XL Chrono
The brand expands its iconic Alpine Eagle line while paying tribute to the Alps with the newest Alpine Eagle XL Chrono in a Rhône blue dial, a colour inspired by the natural landscapes of the Alps and reminding one of the Rhône river which originates from the glacier in the canton of Valais. The novelty is another step towards the preservation of the mountains, where a part of its proceeds will go towards the Alpine Eagle Fondation whose motto is 'Preserving the Alps".

For the first time, the Alpine Eagle chronograph series comes in a 44mm case and also for the first time, is entirely crafted in lightweight and sturdy grade 5 titanium, a material resistant to corrosion and salt water. The sunburst pattern of the dial takes cues from the eagle’s iris. There are three black snailed chronograph counters - the 30-minute counter lies at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, and the small seconds at 6 o’clock. The hours and minutes hands are baton-type and along with the indexes are coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova® , while the seconds hand has a red-tipped arrow and an eagle’s feather-inspired counter weight. At the periphery of the dial is the tachymeter scale featured in black.

Powering the watch is the automatic Chopard 03.05-C movement with about 60 hours of reserve. The highlight of the watch lies in its flyback function, whose three pivoting hammers allow to measure successive timings smoothly and the zero-setting of the hands is eased with the elastic arms. Another important characteristic of the movement is its unidirectional gear drive system that prevents energy losses while ensuring rapid automatic winding to keep the chronograph running. There’s the vertical clutch as well that ensures that the timing in the chronograph starts accurately. The stop seconds function allows to adjust time accurately. The watch comes with a black rubber strap with titanium insert and pin buckle.
