Tennis player Novak Djokovic is an Olympic gold medalist and 24 Grand Slam title holder, who joined the Hublot family as a brand ambassador in 2021. Paying tribute to the legendary player, the brand has introduced a new Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic crafted from the composite materials made of 25 HEAD racquets and 17 dark blue and 15 light blue Lacoste polos, worn by him over the 2023 season.
Novak DjokovicWatch made from tennis rackets and shirts
Like Djokovic, Hublot is known for constantly pushing boundaries and not resting on past successes. Anyone who buys a limited edition as special as the new Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, which is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide, expects something unique. And that's what he (or she) gets.
Big Bang Unico Novak DjokovicThe watch's 42 mm wide and 14.5 mm high case is made of a composite material in which Head tennis rackets and Lacoste shirts that the player wore during his matches in 2023 are incorporated. In total, there are no fewer than 25 rackets and 17 dark blue and 15 light blue shirts. The different fabrics and colors create the "streaks" that run across the top of the case, the bezel and the horns, giving the watch a very unique look.
Lightweight on the arm
There have already been watches whose cases have golf clubs of famous players or similar items integrated into them. The composite material in the case of the Hublot Djokovic serves a dual purpose: firstly, it creates a unique emotional quality - the idea of wearing a piece of Djokovic on your arm. Secondly, the material is also particularly light. Hublot wanted to create a watch that you could also wear while playing tennis without it being too heavy.
The brand has therefore also used lightweight materials in other areas: the case back is made of aluminum, and the crown, pushers and movement bridges of the in-house chronograph caliber HUB1280 Unico with a 72-hour power reserve are also made of aluminum. Clasps made of aluminum or titanium are available for the straps.
Tennis elements on the watch
Hublot deliberately avoided the idea of integrating any numbers. Djokovic is constantly setting new records. With 24 Grand Slam titles in men's singles, he is already ahead of his eternal rivals Rafael Nadal (22) and Roger Federer (21), who have already ended their careers. Other records include (among others) his 10 victories at the Australian Open and the fact that he is the only player to have won all four Grand Slam titles at least three times (10 x Australia, 7 x Wimbledon, 4 x US Open and 3 x Paris). Instead, the blue watch is decorated with yellow and white elements, both of which play a special role in tennis (traditionally white playing clothes, yellow balls). And the six bezel screws and four of the eight side case screws look like tennis balls thanks to their twisted slots.
Four bands to choose from
The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, which is water resistant to 100 metres, is available with a total of four straps, which can be easily changed as always thanks to the "One-Click" quick-change system . The watch weighs the least with the blue elastic strap (49.5 g), but it can also be worn with a Velcro strap (54 g), a Lacoste tennis strap (65 g) or a rubber strap (75 g). In any case, the price is 54,900 euros. Buyers receive the watch in a specially designed oak box, together with a Lacoste polo and a Lacoste sweatband, both signed by Novak Djokovic.
