Ulysse Nardin launched the new Marine Torpilleur Military limited edition timepiece in Annapolis this month, to celebrate the ties between the 113-year old friendship between the brand and the United States Naval Academy.
Limited to 173 pieces – to celebrate the brand's marine heritage – the 44mm wrist chronometer is the new US Navy Torpedo Boat watch. It is water-resistant to 50m and comes with a sapphire-protected dial featuring blue hands, based on the first on-board timepieces which were produced to equip the navy vessels.
The watch beats with the UN-118 automatic winding movement at its heart, housing a 60-hour pwer reserve and is made of silicon. Th number “24” is written in red on the power reserve indicator as a reference to the waning system on the original marine chronometers which alert the sailors to wind their watch immediately. The open caseback comes with “US Limited Edition” and their “Semper Fortis” motto engraved on it. The Marine Torpilleur Military piece is presented on a sailcloth blue strap with four oversized white stitches.
