The Traditional Route with JLC

Jaeger-LeCoultre welcomes the SIHH 2019 with the new Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel.

La Grande Maison Jaeger-LeCoultre honours the fine heritage commenced by Antoine LeCoultre with the unveiling of the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel – the first multi-axis tourbillon with a constant-force mechanism, Westminster chime and a perpetual calendar.

Following the stablished family of the 2004 Master Gyrotourbillon 1, the 2008 Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2, the 2013 Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee and the 2016 Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon, the SIHH 2019 Jaeger-LeCoultre novelty is the fifth multi-axis tourbillon from the brand albeit with a significant size reduction to create a more wearable piece. Replicating the chime of the famed Big Ben clock tower in London, the new Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel also incorporates a silence0reduction mechanism in order to optimise the melody cadence. The timepiece uses four sets of gongs and hammers to recreate the iconic Westminster chime.

The Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel comes with an openwroked dial produced either in a deep-blue grand feu enamel or in a silver-grained version — showcasing the multi-axis tourbillon. Its constant-force mechanism helps highlight the power delivery of the tourbillon and its precision regulation in one-minute cycles, translating in the precise display of the jumping hand and the precision of the repeater chime by regulating the motion of the minute wheel. This completely eliminates the chiming error that can occur when the repeater is activated between minutes, when the chime played and the time shown can be one minute apart.
