Subject to an annual shuffling, the jury of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève this year comprises of a total of 30 jurors – one less from last year's 31. The new members, this year, include Jasem Al Zeraei (influencer, collector / Kuwait), Aldis Hodge (actor, watch designer / USA), Pierre Salanitro (CEO of Salanitro / Switzerland), Jiaxian Xu (collector and founder of SJXwatches.com / Singapore), Jessica Yu (founder of Hantang Culture / China) and Pascal Raffy, owner of Bovet and winner of the 2018 “Aiguille d'Or” Grand Prix.
When it comes to the prizes there will be 19 total awards which will be given out including four new ones. These include the Iconic Watch Prize – conceptualised for the best watch from an emblematic collection that has been exercising a lasting influence on watchmaking history and the watch market for more than 25 years; the Diver's Watch Prize; and the Calendar and Astronomy Watch Prize and the “Horological Revelation” Prize to honour the achievements of a young watch brand.
Scheduled for the 7thNovember, 2019, the GPHG includes two rounds of voting from the jury. The first round with the list of pre-selected watches will be announced on September 2nd, 2019. Stay tuned for the list of the contestants coming up in July.
