With the Covid-19 pandemic uprooting the usual routine of the watch fair schedule, Patek Philippe and Rolex announces their delay in showcasing their novelties for the year and a big question mark hanging above Baselworld's existence, it seems like the watch industry is facing a crisis that might be difficult to get over.
Having said that, Breitling with its avant-garde marketing strategy makes the perfect choice to introduce their key launches for 2020 through a never done before webcast. A welcome initiative that proved to be a grand success. As soon as we had Georges Kern (a natural in front of the camera) start his webcast, PR material regarding the new products were floated across to the global media. Immediately chatter arose across the internet and social media about the new watches from Breitling. With positive feedback from everyone, here we bring you a short review of the major highlights of the release. We will be getting into detail on each of the new watches in the coming days.
Here goes:
Breitling Chronomat Collection
One of the major releases this year is the Chronomat collection featuring a range of all-purpose sports watches that is fit for every pursuit. An icon of its era, the Chronomat holds a significant place in Breitling's history. For 2020, each watch of the Chronomat collection features three instantly recognisable and eye-catching features; the signature rotating bezel that is highlighted by rider tabs, the interchangeable rider tabs at 3 o' clock and 9 o' clock, the iconic Rouleaux integrated bracelet. Each watch in the collection is powered by the in-house Manufacture Caliber 01 which is COSC certified and is available in a range of different metal and dial options. The collection is also available in a special Bentley version and another Frecce Tricolori Limited Edition.
Breitling Navitimer Automatic 35
Touted as a “legendary timepiece for the cosmopolitan women”, the 2020 Navitimer 35 is an important release. With this timepiece, Breitling is set to establish itself as an important player in the field of the increasingly popular ladies watch category. Available in a multitude of colourful dials and leather straps, the stunning new models are perfectly sized at 35mm and is powered the Breilting Caliber 17 which clocks in a power reserve of 38 hours.
Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Capsule Collection
Moving away from the classic and historical timepieces seeen before, one of the msot exciting and varied range of the 2020 launches was the Superocean Heritage '57 Capsule Collection. A tribute to the laid-back lifestyle of the surfers of the 1950s and the 1960s, the collection is available in a range of dial and strap options. Inspired by the original SuperOcean of 1957, the recent edition embodies the Southern-Califronia surfing lifestyle with a modern retro interpretation of a classic sea watch. Crafted in a 42mm stainless steel material, the collection features a standout bidirectional concave bezel with an ultra hard scratch- and shock-resistant ceramic bezel with a luminescent dot at 12 o' clock.
The entire collection is powered by the Breitling Caliber 10 which is a COSC certified chronometer movement and clocks in a power reserve of 42 hours. A special mention to the Superocean Heritage '57 Limited Edition (which we will talk in detail in a later article) – an embodiment of pure Bohemian chic that is all about the colours!
