Founded in 1917 as Schlup & Co. in Switzerland, Rado began as a movement manufacturer before evolving into an innovative watch brand. Under this name, the brand launched Rado Green Horse, an automatic dial unisex watch in 1957. By the end of the 1950s, the company adopted the Rado name and launched its first collection of timepieces. Rado revolutionized the industry in 1962 with the DiaStar 1, the world’s first scratch-resistant watch, pioneering the use of hardmetal and sapphire crystal.
