Panerai’s legacy is inextricably linked to the sea, and part of that is also its association with the sailing competition, America’s Cup. In 2017, Panerai became the official watch of the America Cup; starting the same year, Panerai and Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli of the America Cup became partners, with the watchmaker lending its support to the team while also creating watches that inspired by the sailing technology that personify the sport. The latest in this series of watches is the Luminor Luna Rossa (PAM01342) with a white dial.
The Luminor Luna Rossa (PAM01342) with a white dial, follows the recent Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa (01391), and its launch coincides with the beginning of the race for the next America’s Cup, taking place in Barcelona in 2024. Much like the previous Submersible, the new watch is also a 44mm steel, whose case features a polished finish, while the crown protection device has a brushed look. The main difference (apart from the standard deviation in how the Luminor and Submersible look), is in the colour scheme. The dial of the new watch is white, flanked by rubber and textile gray straps with a red stripe featuring the Luna Rossa logo. The indexes and hands feature gray SuperLumiNova™ that glows green, and a red small seconds hand rests at 9 o’clock, while a ‘Luna Rossa’ can be read at 6 o’clock.
The watch is powered by the P.6000 manual-winding movement, with a three-day power reserve. The caliber also features device that stops the balance when the winding crown is pulled out for greater accuracy.
Limited to 1500 pieces, the Luminor Luna Rossa (PAM01342) is water resistant to 100 metres, and comes with another strap in black rubber, along with a pin buckle in steel.
