Piaget grabbed eyeballs with the new Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon, the new Piaget Polo Date couple, and high jewellery timepieces
The thinnest tourbillon, a historical comeback, and gem-studded pieces by Maison Piaget at Watches and Wonders 2024 left no stone unturned to mesmerise the visitors of the fair. Read about the timepieces below.

Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon

With a mere thickness of 2mm, Piaget has created the thinnest tourbillon watch ever. The Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon is crafted in a blue PVD-coated M64BC cobalt alloy and has a diameter of 41.5 mm. Hand-wound calibre 970P-UC, beating at 4Hz with a power reserve of about 40 hours, drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds on the tourbillon cage located at 10 o’clock.

The off-centred dial displays the hours and minutes with polished and rounded baton indexes, and the seconds indicator is engraved on the tourbillon ring. A sapphire crystal tops the dial. The caseback is solid and it also acts as the main plate for the movement. Water-resistant for up to 20 metres, the watch comes with a strap fitted with a pin knuckle in the same alloy.

Jewellery Watches
Piaget unveiled new timepieces in its historic collections of jewellery watches which include the Swinging Sautoir and the Cuff Watch (first introduced in 1969), and the Aura (from 1989).

Swinging Sautoir: Combining Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie, in 1969, Piaget unveiled the Swinging Sautoir watches during the 21st Collection launch in Basel. These sautoir watches housed Piaget’s ultra-thin 9P hand-wound movement, and boasted ornamental dials with the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s era.

In 2024, Piaget introduced three new Swinging Sautoir timepieces, two of which can be transformed to be worn on the wrist. The first features intricately handcrafted twisted gold chains that elegantly integrate with the timepiece. Each timepiece showcases a softly rounded trapeze case, reminiscent of the original 1969 collection, and embodies the colour palette of the 1970s.

The second transformable sautoir boasts a double chain, one adorned with diamonds, anchored by a white opal cabochon, and embellished with a tassel of diamonds, gold, and chalcedony.

Cuff Watch: First introduced in 1969, the Cuff Watch marked a bold departure in style, characterised by graphic gold openwork cuffs, textured gold bracelets, and vibrant coloured dials.

Following the accolades received by the 2023 Hidden Treasures cuff in the GPHG’s Ladies Watch prize category, Piaget unveils another iteration of this iconic design. Featuring a black opal dial with hues of iridescent greens and blues. It is enveloped within a handcrafted gold chain cuff, where each link is twisted individually, and the design of the goldwork appears to grow organically taking cues from the coral symmetry.

Aura: In 1989, Piaget unveiled the first High Jewelry Aura timepiece, featuring a seamless integration of baguette-cut diamonds adorning both the bracelet and case.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Piaget introduces two unique pieces adorned with rubies, pink sapphires, and diamonds. With intricate cutting and setting techniques, the thin rubies emanate from the centre of the dial, complemented by baguette-cut diamonds. The second variation showcases a gradient of colours, transitioning from deep red rubies to soft pink sapphires and diamonds.

Piaget Polo Date – 150th-anniversary edition
Piaget unveiled the newest models of the iconic Polo in a more casual style with the. Earlier in February the maison unveiled the Piaget Polo 79 in 38mm,  a revisit of the original Polo from 1979.

The two versions of the Piaget Polo Date, 42mm and 36mm, are crafted in steel with a rubber strap, which is the first for a 36mm model which earlier were only worn with a metal bracelet or a leather strap. The 42mm has a brown strap and is powered by the manufacture automatic movement 1110P. The 36mm is driven by the 500P1 movement and comes flanked with a beige strap and is also set with brilliant-cut diamonds.

These watches celebrate the 150th anniversary of the maison. Both the models feature rose gold-coloured hands, with the second hand bearing the inscription “150”.
