Panerai and BRABUS brings us the Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops

With a shared passion for the marine segment, luxury watch maker Panerai enters into a collaboration with German high-end tech-luxury brand BRABUS to bring us the Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition – Panerai's first watch with a skeletonised movement.

Panerai joins hands with high-end tech-luxury brand BRABUS ( a German luxury engineering brand that focuses on high-performance vehicles) to bring us the all new Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240). This is Panerai's first ever timepiece that features a skeletonised automatic movement and is inspired by the design of the BRABUS 'Shadow Black Ops' series of boats.

The collaboration between the two brands came about with a mutual love and connection to the marine environment. Just like Panerai's history and origin is deeply associated with the Italian navy, BRABUS and its “Black Ops” line of luxury dayboats fit right into the DNA of the luxury watch brand. With an objective to create innovative products for the marine segment of each brand, the two nautically-inspired powerhouses will bring decades of experience and expertise to the table.

“When we speak about partnership, it’s not just about a logo, it extends to the highest levels and smallest details. We offer each other complementary skill sets and synergies in terms of products, sales and key markets. The ideas, materials and technologies of our brands will be a vehicle for developing concepts that are both disruptive and spectacular. All of these elements will come together to create results and added value to the bene t of our clients, in terms of service, retail concepts and calibers.” said Panerai CEO, Jean-Marc Pontroué.

About the watch:

The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240) is the first result of the collaboration between the two brands. Like I had mentioned above, to commemorate the collaboration, Panerai released its very first automatic movement that beats at the heart of this limited edition marvel.

The watch comes in a bulky yet stealth 47mm CarbotechTM case and bezel with a see-through caseback and the trademarked CarbotechTM Safety Lock crown protection device. Panerai's first ever skeletonised movement is the P.4001/S caliber automatic movement that clocks in a power reserve of 3 days and an oscillating weight made of tungsten that makes the movement lighter and thinner. It offers the time functions along with a patented polarised date, GMT, am/pm indicator, power reserve indicator (on the back), seconds reset and a calculation of immersion time. All of these functions took the brand about 3 years in total to develop and perfect.

“When put side by side, the similarities in regard to design language and overall character of the Panerai Submersible and the BRABUS Marine line of dayboats are obvious and striking. Both are made to be functional and stylish tools for life in the marine environment and therefore this combination just makes sense” said Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.

The dial of the watch is invisible but houses the colour codes of gunmetal grey, black and red colour palettes that pays tribute to the BRABUS Marine line of dayboats. The Minute, hour and small seconds hands are decorated in BRABUS-red and the emblem of the high-end tech-luxury brand is engraved on the crown guard lever, the watch strap, the movement and the case back.

Limited to just 100 pieces worldwide, the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240) is available in two straps; a bi-material version and Panerai's Sportech strap with velcro closure. Apart from the secondary strap option, the watch also comes with a tool that allows interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
