The popular Rado DiaStar was introduced to the world in 1962, as the world’s first scratch-proof watch made with hardmetal. The uniquely shaped watch had a tungsten carbide case that provided a high degree of robustness. Last year in September, the brand commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Original DiaStar with the launch of a collection of four 38mm watches. Today, the brand continues this journey with the release of DiaStar Original Skeleton.
The latest watch, though contemporary, takes some cues from its predecessors. The watch has a polished Ceramos bezel and stainless steel middle part with square faceted sapphire crystal.
The 38mm DiaStar Original Skeleton (Ref. R12162153) has a black annular dial featuring a white printed minute track, yellow gold-coated floating hour markers, applied with white Super LumiNova, along with the hands. The dial also has a gold coloured moving anchor symbol at 9 o’clock. The high quality, anthracite-coated automatic Rado Calibre R808, is visible through the exhibition dial, powering the watch, and boasting about 80 hours of power reserve.
The R808 also features in the Captain Cook line, and has an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ hairspring, which ensures that everything stays extremely precise and reliable - the movement has been tested in five positions. The watch comes with a polished and brushed stainless steel three-fold clasp bracelet, and is water resistant to 100 metres.
