The year 2023 marks the 35th anniversary of the Geneva-based Frederique Constant, and to mark the occasion the brand has introduced a new timepiece, the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture in four versions - polished platinum case with meteorite dial is an exclusive limited edition of 35; a rose gold case with sun-brushed grey anthracite dial in 350 numbered pieces; and a steel case with a sun-brushed blue or silver dial, which will be part of regular production.
Powering the 40mm timepieces is the brand’s 31st FC-735 Manufacture calibre, which drives the three major complications of the watches. The power reserve of 50 hours can be tracked through the indicating arc resting at 9 o’clock, the 6 o’clock shows the moonphase with a starry blue background, and the ‘big’ double date window lies between 2 and 3 o’clock. Pushers are absent, and the crown at 3 o’clock winds the calibre, sets the time, and adjusts the complications. The hour markers are slim and the hands are diamond-facetted and hand-polished.
The platinum-cased timepiece comes flanked with a navy blue alligator strap that matches its dial colour, the rose gold watch is paired with a brown alligator strap, and the steel versions have a blue alligator leather strap.
