The young, independent brand Hautlence, recognised for its TV-shaped case and unconventional dial and time reading design (think linear and wandering hours), has unveiled a new design - the Sphere Series 1 (Ref. BA80-ST00) and its twirling hour.
The aspect that makes the Sphere Series 1 striking is its dial that allows one to see the time in a third dimension with a twirling hour sphere. The base dial features skeletonized and rhodium-plated brass with a frosted finish; it is incorporated with an off-centred dial that has a retrograde minute hand and Arabic minutes coated with Globolight®, which is a ceramic based material that appears white by day and blue by night. Also, there is a freewheel and the snail cam allowing the triggering of the jumping hour under the minute hand.
On the left side of the dial is a polished grade 5 titanium with blue PVD treated hour sphere, displaying engraved hour numerals with white SLN filling. The number on the hour sphere turns on itself on three axes of rotation to reveal the time. Powering the timepiece is a hand-wound A80 caliber beating at the rate of 21,600 VPH and boasting a 72-hour power reserve. The 43.0 x 50.8 x 11.9 mm timepiece is finished with a blue rubber strap. The watch is resistant to water up to 100 metres and is a limited edition of 28 pieces only.
