Blancpain X Swatch’s new collaborative piece is the Ocean Of Storms

The new Blancpain X Swatch Ocean of Storms is the sixth timepiece born out of the collaboration
Last year in the month of September, the Blancpain X Swatch association commemorated the 70th anniversary of the legendary Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms dive watch, the first ever true diver’s watch, with the release of Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms Collection of five ocean-themed watches; the creations in the line were released in five colours that have never been seen on any original Blancpain Fifty Fathoms—blue (Ref. SO35A100), yellow-orange (Ref. SO35P100), beige (Ref. SO35N100), green (Ref. SO35I100), and white (Ref. SO35S100), which are inspired by the Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Indian, and Antarctic Oceans in that order.  To know more about the timepiece click here

Now, their hyped association brings forward a new ocean-themed offering to the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms Collection—The Blancpain X Swatch Ocean of Storms (Ref. SO35B400), in the shade of black. The latest timepiece in the line features the same 42.3 mm case size and Bioceramic material. It is a patented hybrid of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biomaterial derived from castor oil, developed by Swatch and is its mainstay. Other features include the ‘Swatch’ logo on the side of the case and a one-directional rotating bezel in black Bioceramic material with an anti-scratch coating insert in black.

There are displays of shared Blancpain X Swatch logos on the crown and the dial just below 12 o’clock. Further, the black sun-brushed finished dial features a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock and Arabic hour markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9, hands coated with white lume, and the Scuba text just above 6 o’clock, the classic Fifty Fathoms script, all features reminiscing the previous models of the collection.

An absolute honour to the Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms dive watch legacy, the Blancpain X Swatch Ocean of Storms is also water resistant up to precisely 91 metres, which equates to 50 fathoms. Driving the latest timepiece is the SISTEM51 mechanical movement, with the Nivachron™ antimagnetic balance spring, boasting about 90-hours power reserve; the movement previously appeared in all the aforementioned timepieces of the line. Turning the watch gives a view of the digital print of the illustration of the Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of Storms) region of the moon and the Okenia Luna, a dorid nudibranch, which has a milky colour with luminescent tips.

Also, there are five inspirational inscriptions, PASSION FOR DIVING – LICENCE TO EXPLORE – OCEAN BREATH – PROTECT WHAT YOU LOVE and IMMERSE YOURSELF, on the caseback. Finishing the watch is the black and white NATO strap, made of recycled fishing nets, with the Bioceramic pin buckle and loops. The timepiece is priced at Rs. 33,000 (approx.)
