The Japanese watchmaker, Seiko has introduced two new references to its Cocktail Time Star Bar series, which first started in September 2022, inspired by the popular Star Bar in Tokyo, Japan. Star Bar is a Tokyo institution, and its owner Hisashi Kishi was the first bartender to be awarded the "Contemporary Master Craftsman" award; he is also the recipient of the International Bartenders Association world title and the Japanese Emperor’s Medal of Honor. Now, celebrating the sunsets of the city and the creations at this bar, the brand has unveiled two new models - Ref. SRPK75 and Ref. SRE014, limited editions of 9,000 and 5,000 pieces respectively, whose dials feature gradations and are inspired by the original cocktails created by the Star Bar.
Ref. SRPK75 is a 40.5mm stainless steel timepiece featuring a dial inspired by Star Bar’s cocktail Purple Sunset - its dial gradation advances from navy and purple to a red, mimicking the hues at sunset. Ref. SRE014 is a gold coated 30.3 × 37 × 10.9mm stainless steel piece, whose colours are inspired by another one of Star Bar’s cocktails, Pinky Twilight. As the name suggests, the dial gradation begins with light pink and goes on to a pale yellow, reminiscing the glowing sky at sunset. Further, the wavy pattern on the dial is reminiscent of floating clouds, and there is a date window located at 6 o’clock.
Turning the watch allows one to see the manual winding calibre 4R35 that powers the watches and provides an autonomy of about 41 hours, along with the serial number engraved on the case back. The timepieces are fitted with a burgundy or a brown calfskin strap and are water resistant up to 50 metres.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time STAR BAR Ref. SRE014 The watches will be available from February 2024 onwards, and are priced at Rs. 54,000 for Ref. SRPK75 and Rs. 50,000 for Ref. SRE014.
