Louis Erard, known for creating watches in collaborations with independent watchmakers, artistes and other creatives, has joined hands with Geneva-based jeweller Cédric Johner for its latest releases. The Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Cédric Johner is a set of two models, both limited to 178 pieces each, which reflect the ethos of both brands.

The 39mm steel watches have two variations – one with a mauve PVD dial (Ref. 85249AA02.BVA153), and the other with a blue PVD dial (Ref. 85249AA01.BVA150). While the case is the circular Excellence case of Louis Erard, the dial and bezel are hexagonal, topped with domed hexagonal sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The dial features striking sunray pattern guilloché decoration, with concave, circular satin-finished anthraciite hour and seconds sub counters that bring with them contrast and volume. There are Roman hour markers, and the seconds counters are marked by indexes. The watch followed the Regulator design, where the hour, minute, and second hands are separated onto different subdials. In the Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Cédric Johner, the third central leaf-shaped minutes hand sweeps across the dial. The watches also boast the fir-tree crown.

Johner, an independent jeweller and watchmaker, who doesn’t use machines and only creates hand decorations, has lent his inimitable touch to the watch, most evident in the movement of the watch. The Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Cédric Johner features a special openworked oscillating weight that has been meticulously decorated by Johner. He has used finely hand-polished grains, known as ‘Petites graines’, to adorn the oscillating weight – all 230 intricately crafted beads have been placed by hand, a process Johner repeated for each of the 178 oscillating weights of each of the two models. This handiwork is  visible through the transparent black caseback.

The watch is powered by the automatic Sellita calibre SW266-1 with 38 hours power reserve and a 4Hz frequency. The mauve dial version is flanked by a grey leather strap, while the blue one with a black leather strap. Both watches are priced at Rs 3,65,000 each.
