Breitling adds new models to the Superocean Automatic line

There are the Superocean Automatic models with rainbow dials and a turquoise-dial version, and Superocean Automatic 46 Super Diver with water resistance up to 1000 metres
Breitling has added eight new models to its Superocean collection with six variations of the Superocean Automatic model and two in Superocean Automatic 46 Super Diver model. The timepieces have been launched alongside the recently released The Breitling Book of Surfing (Rizzoli) that talks about surfing cultures in various continents. It is penned by surf writer Ben Mondy, and has a foreword by freestyler Mikey February, along with an introduction by eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore.

The new Superocean Automatic takes inspiration from the SuperOcean Slow Motion watch of the 1960s and 1970s. The earlier model had significant dive elements for underwater legibility such as large luminescent baton indexes, ‘paddle’ hands, and high-contrast minute scale on the dial ring. There was no seconds hand, rather a minutes-based chronograph (which took an hour for one full rotation, hence the name). The new Superocean timepieces reincorporated the seconds hand, while retaining essential diving aesthetics.

The Superocean Automatic 46 Super Diver is the new line of diving watches from Breitling and comes in two versions that offer water resistance up to 1000 metres. These 46mm dive watches are crafted in a lightweight and robust titanium case and bidirectional bezel with black or green ceramic inlay and a patented safety lock. The inner case is made of soft-iron for protection against magnetic fields. The dials feature black or green camouflage pattern. The hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova®. Driving them is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 10 with a power reserve of about 42 hours. The watches are worn with grey or khaki-green rubber strap or a titanium bracelet.

The other category is the Superocean Automatic unveiled in 42mm (Superocean Automatic 42) and 36mm (Superocean Automatic 36) rainbow-dial editions, alongside a new version of the popular 44mm turquoise-dial model (Superocean Automatic 44), featuring a matching strap. The 42mm models come in four stainless-steel versions with rubber straps in turquoise, aquamarine, orange, and yellow. The 36mm model in white is crafted in stainless-steel case and 18K red gold bezel, completed with a white rubber strap. The rainbow-dials of these watches feature hour markers and hands coated in a gradient of shades of Super-LumiNova® - yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red, and orange. These colours not only give a vibrant appeal to the timepieces during the day but glow in different hues in low light conditions.

Additionally, the 44mm turquoise-dial model features a tone-on-tone scheme with the rubber strap in the same shade as that of the dial. The design is contrasted with black unidirectional ceramic-inlay bezel.

All the models offer water-resistance up to 300 metres and are powered by COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 which beats at 4 Hz and offers a reserve of about 38 hours.
