Chopard’s Mille Miglia collection is inspired by the Italian car race, the Mille Miglia (1000 miles), which the brand has been sponsoring since 1988. The timepieces in the line reflect the essence of the automotive world in their design code. Now, the brand strengthens the line with a new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph (Ref. 168619-3005), crafted in Lucent SteelTM, which has a 80 per cent recycling rate.
Crafted with the same Lucent SteelTM, the bezels, crowns and pushers of the watch are finished with contrasting polished and satin-brushing. Both the pushers located at 2 and 4 o’clock recall brake pedals, while the crown at 3 o’clock position entails notches for better grip. The timepiece is topped with a glass-box sapphire crystal.
The ‘La Gara’ (the Italian word for ‘the race’ or ‘the competition) dial of the 40.5mm timepiece picks its colour scheme from the black and white checkered flag that marks the arrival of a motor-race victory. It has black peripheral tachymeter scale with white markings. Further, there are three black counters - a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, a 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a 30-second counter at 9 o’clock. The hands and black outlined Arabic hour markers, redesigned to match with car dashboards, are coated with Grade XI Super-LumiNova®. One can also see the 1000 Miglia logo on the dial just below the brand’s logo at 12 o’clock and the red-tipped central sweep hands to complement the logo.
The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the COSC-certified automatic movement beating at 4Hz and boasting a 54-hour power reserve. A perforated black calfskin strap, inspired by the automotive world, with a redesigned pin buckle flanks the case.
The watch is priced at Rs. 7,80,000 (approx.)
