Geneva Watch Days 2024: Bulgari’s new timepieces include the thinnest chiming mechanical watch ever

Bulgari embraces musicality with the new chiming watches and a limited-edition collaborative piece, alongside the classic Serpenti Pallini
Bulgari has unveiled a new collection of timepieces at Geneva Watch Days 2024 that includes chiming watches in the Octo Roma and Octo Finissimo lines; new references in the Serpenti Pallini high jewellery; and a limited edition Bulgari Aluminium created in collaboration with Fender® Custom Shop, well-known for customising guitars and basses.

Bulgari Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon 103933

The Octo Roma collection has got two chiming timepieces - Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon 103962 and Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon 103933, both created in collaboration with the Italian-Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti, who currently heads the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Dutch National Opera as chief conductor.

The timepieces introduce a new approach to chiming watches, featuring a distinctive musicality based on the tritone harmonic interval, a musical interval which gives a unique tonal quality to the watches. Bulgari brings together its roots in Roman culture and the Baroque era, exploring a soundscape that, while unconventional, remains an essential element of classical music.

The 45mm Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon is crafted in satin-polished titanium, featuring a sandblasted brass openworked dial with grey DLC treatment. The hands and indexes are in satin-polished, rhodium-finished brass. Housed inside is the manual-wound BVV800 movement that drives the Grande and Petite sonnerie, minute repeater, 4-hammer chime, and the power reserve indicators for the calibre and the chime mechanism, which is about 72 hours. It comes flanked with a black alligator strap.

The Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon is driven by modified manual-wound BVL428 movement that chimes the minute repeater and 3-hammer carillon, with a power reserve of about 75 hours. The 44mm watch is made with a satin-polished rose gold case and features brass sandblasted openworked dial with polished rose gold-plated hands and indexes. It also comes with a black alligator strap.

Bulgari introduced the thinnest chiming watch ever with the new Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon. The timepiece is crafted in carbon multi-layered CTP (Carbon Thin Ply) with polished titanium crown with black ceramic insert. The carbon dial has openings that form the indexes, there are white seconds indexes in the subdial at 6 o’clock, and the brass hands are satin-polished and rhodium-finished. The transparent caseback gives a view of the ultra-thin BVL362 movement that powers the with minute repeater and small seconds, with a reserve of about 42 hours. It chimes the hours, quarters, and minutes, and measures just 3.12 mm in thickness. It comes with a carbon bracelet with an integrated folding buckle.

In collaboration with the Fender® Custom Shop, the renowned shop for making custom guitars for musicians, the brand has introduced the new Bulgari Aluminium GMT x Fender® Limited Edition, inspired by the original Stratocaster® guitars created by Fender from 1954. The timepiece is a limited edition of 1200. Along with the watch, Bulgari has also commissioned the creation of Anniversary Stratocaster® guitars by Fender, which will be made to order in the Fender workshop itself. There will be 140 exclusive anniversary sets available by the end of August, 70 for each of the two time zones on the Bvlgari aluminium GMT. There will be 70 Fender® Custom Shop Limited Edition Bulgari Stratocaster® guitars for the collectors, created upon request in their workshop in Corona, California.

The Bulgari Aluminium GMT x Fender® Limited Edition is a 40mm watch made with aluminium, with brown rubber bezel, and DLC-coated titanium caseback. The gradient shaded dial goes light to dark brown extending from the centre. The GMT inner dial at the periphery is brown and cream, and there’s a date window at 3 o’clock. The indexes and hands are rhodium-plated, and the hands coated with Super-LumiNovaTM. The watch is powered by GMT.B192 calibre, with a reserve of about 42 hours. It comes with a dark brown articulated rubber bracelet with aluminium links and velcro strap.

The new Serpenti Pallini is now housed with Bulgari’s miniature mechanical Piccolissimo movement. Pallini means ‘small round beads’ in Italian, and the first ever Pallini was introduced in 1955 featuring a five-turn bracelet crafted in yellow gold with beaded design and adorned with diamonds. This secret watch is now unveiled in yellow, rose, and white gold with a double coil, and studded with dazzling diamonds, and emeralds that make the eye of the serpent. The secret dial lies inside the mouth of the serpent which gets revealed when the mouth is opened.

The ref. 104025 is set in white gold with round brilliant cut diamonds on the bracelet, and pavé-set diamonds on the dial with green hands. The ref. 104027 is crafted in white gold and yellow gold with diamonds and a mother-of-pearl dial featuring diamonds as indexes and green hands. The ref. 104026 comes in white gold and rose gold with brilliant-cut diamonds. The dial is pavé-set with diamonds and has green hands. Manual-wound Piccolissimo BVL100 movement powers all the watches with a reserve of about 30 hours.
