Independent Swiss watchmaker DeBethune has presented two masterpieces at Geneva Watch Days 2024 - one is the DB28xs Aérolite (Ref. DB28XSZM), inspired by the DB28XP Météorite and DB28xs Starry Seas released in 2021 and 2024 respectively. The other is DB28xs Steel Wheels (Ref. DB28XSSW), which draws inspiration from the DB28 Steel Wheels, launched in 2018.
De Bethune DB28xs Aérolite
DE Bethune DB28xs Aérolite The new DB28xs Aérolite is another avant-garde timepiece by the brand. The watch features a 38.7mm black zirconium case, DeBethune's patented matte anthracite coated zirconium floating lugs, and a crown at 12 o’clock. Highlight of the watch is its blue Muonionalusta meteorite dial, contrasted with the random guilloche pattern done on it. Further, there is an anthracite hour ring with Arabic numbers marked on it in pink and randomly spread white gold dots representing stars on the starry sky dial. The time-only watch features polished pink gold hour and minute hands.
The caseback is open, revealing the hand-winding movement Calibre DB2005, equipped with hand-crafted finishing and decorations, and patented a self-regulating twin barrel, titanium balance wheel with white gold inserts; ‘De Bethune’ balance spring with flat terminal curve; silicon escape wheel; and triple pare-chute shock absorbing system. The watch has a power reserve of about six days.
An extra-supple alligator leather strap with alligator lining and black textile flanks the case.
De Bethune DB28xs Steel Wheels
DE Bethune DB28 Steel Wheels 43mm and DB28xs Steel Wheels 39mm Besides being a contemporary re-interpretation of the 2018 43mm DB28 Steel Wheels, the fresh iteration is compact with the reduced diameter, measuring 38.7mm. It is crafted in polished grade 5 titanium with the brand's patented floating lugs and a crown at 12 o’clock.
The partially skeletonised titanium dial features the brand’s signature delta-shaped bridge with microlight decoration, circular satin-finished titanium hour and minute markers on the periphery, where hour markers are polished and blued. It is also a time-only watch with polished blued titanium hour and minute hands.
Visible underneath the display is the mechanical hand-winding movement Calibre DB2115V13, with 6-days power reserve—improved by 20 percent than the one equipped inside DB28 Steel Wheels. This movement is also equipped with the aforementioned brand’s patented system. A textile or a leather strap completes the watch.
