In September this year, Czapek and Cie. released a new 38-piece limited edition Antarctique S Mirrored Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Sincere Watches, the brand’s exclusive retailer in Singapore and South-East Asia. The celebration continues with Franck Muller releasing a new Vanguard Damascus Steel Platinum Jubilee Edition, a 28-piece limited edition timepiece.
The new Vanguard Damascus Steel has fascinated with its characteristic grain for thousands of years. Franck Muller has now resorted to this special material. The unique alloy is composed of two austenitic stainless steels, which is non-magnetic and resistant to heat and corrosion and formed through advanced powder metallurgy. The Damascus steel combines two types of stacked steels in a patented process to enhance the shock resistance and eliminate impurities, which helps the movement function flawlessly. The anniversary edition combines old blacksmithing skills with modern haute horlogerie.
According to the manufacturer, Damascus steel, known for its strength and corrosion resistance, combines two types of steel. This is intended to symbolize the special connection between the house and Sincere Fine Watches.
The skeleton dial features rose gold crafted hands and a white sapphire seconds counter ring at 6 o'clock whose markings are also crafted from rose gold. The timepiece is cleaned using a patented process and made particularly shock-resistant. The bridges of the skeletonized movement are said to be made entirely of a special material. It is framed by a rose gold flange and matching accents on the hands. Powering the watch is the automatic calibre MVT FM 1740-VS2, operating at 2.5Hz and boasting a 7-day power reserve.
A high-gloss polishing as well as facet and diamond cutting ensure that the filigree details of the design can fully develop their potential. For the anniversary edition's strap, the Geneva watchmakers opted for black alligator leather with rose gold stitching.
The watch will be priced at Rs. 45,20,000 (approx.)
