Hublot pushes the limits with the new Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic

Limited to only 20 pieces, the new Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic is the world’s first watch to be crafted in multi-colour ceramic
Once again showcasing its motto of ‘Art of Fusion’, Hublot has released a new Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic (Ref. 441.CIB.1171.RX), positioned as the world’s first watch to be crafted in multi-colour ceramic. Although Hublot has already been creating coloured ceramic watches for a decade now, with the latest Magic Ceramic creation the brand is clearly taking things to the next level.

Hublot’s history of material innovation runs deep, whether it is the invention of the world’s first scratch-resistant 18K gold alloy or the high-tech sapphire SAXEM. The new Magic Ceramic material is a result of four years of research and a patented process. To get the desired multi-colour, the baking and moulding of the ceramic components, and processing of each pigment must be done at different temperatures.

"I feel immense pride in seeing our team bring to life a material that perfectly embodies Hublot’s soul: A subtle blend of science, alchemy, and playful boldness. After more than four years of research, we have mastered the art of combining vivid, patented colours—a true technical feat. Thanks to the creativity and talent of our young engineers taking the lead, Hublot’s scientific approach and innovative spirit will continue to astonish”, says Hublot Director of R&D Mathias Buttet.

Limited to only 20 pieces, the 42mm timepiece is encased in microblasted and polished black ceramic and features a dark grey ceramic bezel with random and organic twilight blue circles. There is a matte black skeletonised dial with small seconds at 9 and 60 minutes counter with a date window at 3 o’clock.

The automatic movement HUB1280 UNICO with 4Hz frequency and 72 hours power reserve, drives the watch and a black lined rubber strap flanks the case.
