The Swiss luxury watch brand Rado is known for its ceramic capabilities with materials like colourful high-tech ceramic, ultralight high-tech ceramic that’s lighter and more durable than high-tech ceramic; plasma high-tech ceramic, and CeramosTM, featured across all its collections. Driven by the same spirit, the brand continues to push the boundaries. Most recently, Rado introduced a shimmering golden dial to its flagship Captain Cook collection, adding a fresh dimension to the collection.
Since its revival, the Captain Cook has become one of Rado's defining collections, blending the charm of the brand's 1962 dive watch with contemporary materials and mechanics. The latest addition brings a striking new personality to the lineup. A shimmering gold-coloured dial with a textured, diamond powder-like finish transforms the familiar design into one of the collection's most eye-catching references while preserving the functionality that has made the Captain Cook one of today's most versatile modern dive watches.
At the center of the new reference is the dial, whose sparkling surface is created through a complex multi-stage manufacturing process. The textured finish catches and reflects light from every angle, creating a dynamic appearance that constantly changes on the wrist. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides further enhances the dial's depth and brilliance.
The watch is housed in a polished stainless-steel case measuring 39mm in diameter, a size introduced to bridge the gap between the existing 37mm and 43mm Captain Cook models. The rotating bezel combines yellow gold-coloured PVD-coated stainless steel with a polished black high-tech ceramic insert, while matching gold-coloured hands and applied indices are filled with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility. A date display at 3 o'clock completes the familiar Captain Cook layout.
Powering the watch is the automatic Rado Caliber R763. Equipped with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring, the movement offers an 80-hour power reserve and is regulated beyond standard testing requirements in up to five positions for improved accuracy. The screw-down crown and caseback contribute to a water-resistance rating of 300 meters (30 bar).
Versatility is another highlight of the new model. It is delivered with both a steel rice-grain bracelet and a black rubber strap, each fitted with Rado's EasyClip quick-release system for tool-free changes. A leather pouch is included to store the additional strap. The Captain Cook retails for Rs. 2,98,300
