The last few years have seen a markedly different approach at Titan Watches. With an ambition to put Indian watchmaking on a larger global stage, the brand has been strengthening its chops to be viewed as a world-class watchmaker at par, if not beyond, its Swiss, German, and Japanese counterparts. Wanting to be not just as the household name in India, Titan over the past three years has unveiled watches like the GPHG-longlisted- and design-forward Edge series, Wandering Hours, Jalsa Tourbillon, Zero Hour 500M Professional Diver's Automatic watch, all decidedly targetted at the growing watch collecting community both in India and abroad. The brand also did its first showcase at the international Geneva Watch Days, on the sidelines of Watches and Wonders, this year. Now the latest product showcasing the brand's aspirations is the Titan Automatics collection, featuring its first in-house movement, Vetra (prounounced vay-tra, the second part as you would say it in Hindi).

“Vetra realised through our latest Automatics range is a statement of what Indian watchmaking can create when engineering ambition meets the confidence to build from within. It firmly places Titan within a relatively small global community of watchmakers building in-house mechanical capabilities, while contributing to the emergence of a stronger indigenous horological ecosystem in India. More importantly, it marks a significant stride in strengthening India’s position in modern horology,” says Rahul Shukla, Vice-President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer - Watches Division at Titan Company Limited. 

The other three watches come in slightly larger case sizes of 42 mm and boast a 40 hours power reserve. Dualis, which is launched in three variations—black and white dials, bracelet and strap -- is encased in stainless steel, and features a 24-hour rotating inner bezel, a GMT hand in red, and baton hour markers. Vetra’s another variant Calibre 7A37 drives these models. 

Powered by Vetra Calibre 7A77, Midnite also comes in a 42 mm size, and features a clean and minimal dials available in black, white, and brown, with big date complication at 12 o’clock. Its chapter ring features a sunray finish, while the central dial features a subtle texture.

The fourth collection, Atrium, features four dial variations in black, maroon, white, and green, and comes with a knurled bezel and a dial displaying sleek Roman hour markers and a small-seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. There’s also an open-heart variant in the line, positioned between 6 and 7 o’clock. These watches are driven by the Vetra Calibre 7A200-C.

Expectedly, all the watches feature a transparent caseback, and are either compeleted with a stainless steel bracelet or leather straps and are priced between ₹47,995 and ₹54,995.
