India is today touted as one of the most buzzing markets for luxury watches and this is another proof: The highly coveted Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève awards, which is widely recognised as the 'Oscars of watchmaking' and honours the crème de la crème of timepieces, is making its presence felt in India, starting tomorrow. The watches nominated for the 2026 edition are being exhibited in Mumbai from Sept 28 - Oct 1, offering watch enthusiasts a rare opportunity to see the excellence in mechanical watchmaking showcased by these timepieces, up close.
The exhibition, which has been brough to India by Ethos Watch Boutiques, and takes place in Hotel St Regis, will see all 84 timepieces, including the six mechanical clocks, being displayed. The exhibition heads on over to Bangkok from Mumbai. In its 26th edition, this year's GPHG awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices (BFM), a historic building positioned right over the Rhône River. Typically, before every GPHG awards ceremony, the 84 nominated timepieces go around the world for a global exhibition.
This year is particularly significant for India, as Pranav Saboo, the Managing Director and CEO of Ethos Limited, has officially joined the GPHG 2026 jury, comprising of the global watch world's intelligentsia. A major milestone for the Indian horological community, he is the only Indian named to the newly restructured 24-member panel for the 2026 edition. Interestingly, Pranav follows in the footsteps of his father, Ethos Watch Boutiques founder Yashovardhan Saboo, who previously made history as the first Indian ever to serve on a GPHG jury, in 2023. Raymond Loretan, the President of the Foundation Board, and Carine Maillard, the Director of the GPHG, will also be in attendance, alongside international representatives from over 50 elite watch brands and independent maisons.
The exhibition will begin with an invitation-only press preview, collectors preview, and gala opening and inaugural ceremony on September 28, 2026. It will be open to visitors from September 29 to October 1, 2026. Guided tours and watchmaking experiences will also be available during the exhibition period upon registration (registration now stands closed).
