Measuring 2.5 millimetre more than the classic Lange 1, the new Grand Lange 1 “25^thAnniversary” edition, recently launched by the German luxury watch brand, comes in white gold with blue accents. The highlight of the watch lies in the arrangement on the asymmetrical dial with its proportionally enlarged display of time, the outsized date and the power-reserve indicator, so that they do not overlap each other.

This led to the development of the bespoke movement for this specific model as the hand arbors had to be shifted slightly towards the periphery of the timepiece. The movement with its 397 parts can be viewed through the sapphire-crystal caseback. The oscillator, composed of a classic screw balance and a Lange balance spring, is suspended beneath a hand-engraved balance cock. You can also view the discreet signature of the “25th Anniversary” collection integrated in its blue-filled motif: a framed 25 that echoes the Lange outsize date in the front.

The new manually-wound calibre L095 includes only one spring barrel resulting in a thinner case, yes, but without compromising on the 72-hour power reserve. The dial is coloured in silver and plays contrast with the thermal blue steel hands and blue inscriptions. The Grand Lange 1 “25^thAnniversary” comes on a blue alligator leather strap with a white-gold prong buckle.
