It was exactly 55 years ago that Seiko launched its and Japan's, very first diver's watch featuring an automatic movement with a water resistance to 150m. It then went on to prove its relaibility when it was used by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969.
Since this first launch, Seiko has gone ahead and introduced a number of diver's watches that has been taken up the first choice of adventurers and professional divers alike. Keeping this evolution in mind, for its 55th anniversary, the brand has launched three legends marking the most important landmarks from Seiko's first decade as a maker os diver;s watches.
Offered in the Prospex collection, the three watches belong to the period from 1965 to 1975. From the brand's first diver's watch with a 300m resistance and a 10-beat automatic movement to their “professional” watch created in 1975 featuring a 600m water resistance, each new model reiterates the technical and design aesthetics of the original timepieces.
