OMEGA unveils two pieces dedicated to Olympic Games 2020

Adding to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 commemorative models, OMEGA presents the new Seamaster Aqua Terra pieces in 18K yellow gold.

OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, is here with two new timepieces made in full 18K yellow gold - each dedicated to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The new Seamaster Aqua Terra pieces come housed in 38mm or 41mm yellow gold cases.

The new yellow gold models are offered on blue leather straps that contrast their polished blue ceramic dials. The dials have been laser-engraved with a pattern inspired by the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem. Commemorating the spirit of Olympic Games, the pieces also feature the emblem on the casebacks.

Before presenting its shiniest Tokyo 2020 models, the Swiss manufacture had also launched the Tokyo 2020 models, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition, Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition, and Seamaster Diver 300M Tokyo 2020.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 is scheduled to begin on July 23 after a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Aqua Terra 150M Co-Axial Master Chronometer Ladies' 38mm is driven by OMEGA's Master Chronometer Calibre 8801 while the Aqua Terra 150M Co-Axial Master Chronometer 41mm is powered by the OMEGA's Master Chronometer Calibre 8901. These engines are visible through the polished-brushed four-screw casebacks.

American swimmer Michael Phelps, an Olympian with 28 Olympic Games medals, is one of the first people to wrap the new Tokyo 2020 model around his wrist. Phelps has been part of the OMEGA brand family since 2004. "If you're an Olympian, or trying to become an Olympian, it's a 24 hours and seven days a week job. It's non-stop. It's around-the-clock. To really be prepared for an Olympic Games, you have to put in the work. You have to go through the struggle. For the journey I went five times, it was never easy, but I know the work that I was doing gave me the results that I deserved," says Phelps.

Both the OMEGA Tokyo 2020 models are offered on an integrated blue alligator strap with an 18K yellow gold polished-brushed fold-over clasp. Their polished blue ceramic dials feature facetted 18K yellow gold hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. The 41mm model comes with a trapezoidal date window while the 38mm timepiece flaunts a circular window. The commemorative pieces, water resistant up to 150 metres, come in a special Tokyo 2020 presentation box.
