He’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight. These words by Commissioner Gordon still evoke deep emotions in all Batman fans more than 13 years after they were first spoken. Now, as the Robert Pattinson Batman movie release comes closer, Kross Studios is revisiting and interpreting these words in their own style. Kross Studios has unveiled its new collaboration with Warner Bros – a 10-piece collector set of the The Batman x Kross Studio watch (Ref TBATT22, containing a new timepiece and an independent Bat signal.

The offering is, but naturally, set to attract Bruce Wayne fans all over the world. And like the protagonist, has a mysterious, veiled appearance. The watch sports a central tourbillon cage on top of which rests a Bat emblem, and a 60-second tourbillon rotates underneath. The piece is crafted in Grade 5 titanium, and protected by DLC treatment, with a dome-shaped anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The reading of time is via the hour hand that’s fixed to an orbiting peripheral display around the tourbillon, while the minutes are displayed on the disk, making one revolution per hour. The barrel’s mainspring is wound by lifting the D-Ring on the caseback and turning it like a key. To set the time, the wearer simply presses the ‘Time Set’ push button located at 3 o’clock while turning the case back D-ring in either direction.

Powering the watch is the KS 7’001 manual winding movement with a frequency of 3Hz and a power reserve of 5 days. The Batman x Kross Studio watch has a water resistance of 30 metres, and its caseback is engraved with ‘Kross Studios x Batman’, and the individual number of the watch. The timepiece gets interchangeable straps and is completed in black calf leather straps embossed with the pattern of Batman’s armour with black stitching; there is also an option of a red strap with red stitching. All straps are reinforced with a black rubber inlay, with a black DLC Grade 5 titanium clasp.

Accompanying each watch is an independent Bat-Signal, which also plays a key role in the ‘Batman’ Tourbillon. Each piece comes with a functional Bat-Signal that casts the shadow of the Batman logo.

The Batman X Kross Studio watch follows the Swiss independent studio and manufacturer’s successful collaborations with famed designer Alain Silberstein for the Lotus Tourbillon and Lucasfilm for Star Wars Watch Rolls Collection. The set is priced at US$ 100,000. The brand has also created watch rolls priced separately at US$ 250, each of the four variants inspired by some of the most iconic characteristics from DC Comics – the Batman (two editions), Selina Kyle (Catwoman), and The Riddler.
