The year was 1998 when Bulgari first launched its aluminium watch - a sporty piece with a black rubber and aluminium buckle. In 2020 edition, the aluminium watch got an upgrade, with reshaped lugs and an all-new mechanical self-winding movement. To bring the timepiece to life for 2022, Bulgari has partnered with Ducati to create a 40mm, 1,000 pieces limited edition Bulgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition watch.
According to Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari's Product Creation Executive Director, "I had a great pleasure to visit once again the Ducati factory in Borgo Panigale in Italy and exchange with Andrea Ferraresi [Design director, Ducati], discussing the many parallels between motorbikes and watches, our common passion for the beauty of the mechanics, and the Italian design approach. For this special collaboration the Bulgari Aluminium model was a natural choice due to its combination of materials, sporty character, and iconic look.”
The new Bulgari Aluminium Chronograph Ducati Special Edition is an aluminium watch that features a black rubber bezel with ‘Bvlgari Bvlgari’ engraving, a deep red dial, black bar-shaped hour markers where 10, 11 and 12 o’clock numerals honour the dashboards of Ducati motorbikes. The chronograph gets a date window at 4:30, and the black sub-dials at 9 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 3 o’clock display minutes, hours, and seconds with red hands. The crown and the chronograph pushers are in titanium.

Turning the watch reveals the black DLC-coated caseback with the Ducati logo and engraving of the individual watch number out of 1000. Powering the chronograph is the calibre BVL130 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The aluminium case and titanium caseback give this watch a 100-metre water resistance. The watch is finished on a rubber strap with aluminium links and aluminium pin buckle system. The watch comes with an aluminium and rubber presentation box bearing the DUCATI and BVLGARI signatures.
