Developed by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, the tourbillon is one of horology's landmark creations that pushed the boundaries of precision timekeeping. It is no surprise then that Breguet, the brand, has a collection that pays tribute to the mechanism, and the souscription watches that AL Breguet used to create. The Tradition line was first launched in 2005, and its watches feature an inverted movement that exposes most of the movement on the skeleton dial.
The latest addition to this line is the Tradition Tourbillon 7047.
Tradition Tourbillon 7047, in a combination of grey-blue, in a 41mm platinum watch that features the quintessential gold guilloched ‘Clous de Paris’ motif on its off-centre gold dial. The dial features Roman numerals and Breguet silver hands., and even though smaller, does not compromise on legibility.
However, the talking point of the Tradition Tourbillon 7047 is its fusée-chain tourbillon mechanism with a blue theme. The fusée-chain mechanism ensures the delivery of constant torque irrespective of the stage of winding the watch is at. The chain on top of the fusee, is attached to the mainspring barrel, and as the chain winds and unwinds, its torque decreases yet acts in parallel on the widest part of the fusée – its base – thus ensuring the constant force.
The watch is powered by Calibre 569, rhodium-plated manual winding movement with a 50-hour power reserve. The watch is completed on a Midnight blue alligator leather strap. The platinum case gives this watch a water resistance of 30m.
