Geneva Watch Days 2022: Maurice Lacroix adds to its PONTOS line

Say hello to the Geneva Watch Days 2022 novelties from Maurice Lacroix - the PONTOS S Chronograph and the Pontos Day Date Limited Edition
The Aikon line, and its focus on urban landscapes and city living, has been in the spotlight at Maurice Lacroix for some time now. However, for Geneva Watch Days 2022, the watchmaker is shifting gears and has introduced two new models under its PONTOS line - the PONTOS S Chronograph and the Pontos Day Date Limited Edition.

The PONTOS line was introduced by the brand in the year 2000, and in 2017, went through a redesign that focused on creating watches that had a more classic, timeless appeal – the decision was taken in light of the introduction of the Aikon collection in 2016, which offered bolder watches. The 2022 PONTOS watches follow this redesigned ideology closely.

The 43mm stainless steel PONTOS S Chronograph has a sandblasted dial in two colours – silver white and dark blue. On these rest the chronograph counters in dark grey for the silver white dial, and in the same dark blue for the blue dial, with sandblasted centres and a snailed frame. At 12 o’clock is the minutes counter, at 6 o’clock the hours, and the small seconds rests at 9 o’clock. A day and date window are set at 3 o’clock, just above which Maurice Lacroix’s branding appears. The hour and minute hands are partially open-worked and lined with Super-LumiNova®, while the hour indexes are facetted and applied. The bezel is scratch-resistant ceramic and equipped with a tachymeter.

The watch comes with the recognisable double-stepped lugs of the brand, along with the elongated pushpieces. The case has alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces, and the three-row steel bracelet can be switched for a colour-coordinated, M-branded nylon strap with tone-on-tone stitching, lined with nubuck leather. The watch comes with this extra pair of straps that can be fitted easily thanks to the Easy Strap Exchange system.

Turn the watch over and you get a glimpse through the sapphire crystal of the automatic ML112 (based on the ETA / Valjoux 7750) calibre, decorated with Côtes de Genève, perlage, and sunbrushed decoration. The watch has a water resistance of 100 metres.

The PONTOS Day Date Limited Edition is a watch crafted in black DLC stainless steel, in an overarching khaki colour. The dial features a sunray brushed effect, on which rests a chapter ring, positioned near the centre. At 12 o’clock is the branding of the watch – an enlarged name, underneath which is the full name, and further below sits the day window; at 6 o’clock a date window appears. The indexes are trapezoidal, and the hour and minutes hands feature Super-LumiNova; the second hand has a red-tipped end.
