Swiss luxury watch brand Omega announces India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra as its sports brand ambassador. The partnership between the two transpired ahead of Paris Olympics 2024 of which Omega is the official timekeeper.
To celebrate the venture, the athlete was invited to the brand’s boutique in Doha, Qatar, who will now be representing India at the ongoing Wanda Diamond League in Doha itself.
Chopra is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in athletics in Tokyo Olympics 2020. He has also broken his own national record with a javelin throw of 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League 2022. As per the brand, the sheer dedication, excellence, and precision of the ‘India’s golden boy’ towards his sport is a strong match for Omega’s watchmaking ethos—Omega has been the official timekeeper for Olympic Games since 1932 and this year’s Paris Olympics will mark the brand’s 31st year at the occasion.
The star javelin thrower, won five national awards including Arjuna Award, Vishisht Seva Medal, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, which is the highest sporting honour of the nation, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, and Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour of India.
On partnership with
Omega, Chopra says “I am very excited to be a part of such an iconic brand that plays such a huge role in timekeeping at the Olympic Games. I am looking forward to a great association with OMEGA and the upcoming spectacle in Paris.”
