Since 1969 when it was first created to commemorate the Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer Monaco has only strengthened the brand’s legacy in the arena of motor sports. Paying tribute to its roots and rich heritage in racing, TAG Heuer has now unveiled a new Monaco Chronograph (Ref. CBL2188.FT6261) in a new dark blue shade. This dark blue theme is an ode to the Principality of Monaco’s racing tradition and the colour takes inspiration from the Mediterranean coast which hosts the legendary Formula 1 race.
Crafted in a 39mm black DLC grade-2 titanium sandblasted case, the watch features a skeletonised blue sandblasted dial with motorsport aesthetics. There’s the minute counter at 3 o’clock and hour counter at 9, and a permanent seconds indicator rests at 6 o’clock. The carved indexes, rhodium-plated hour and minute hands, and the date at 6 o’clock are all coated with light blue Super-LumiNova®.
The central seconds hand and chronograph counter hands are yellow lacquered. The contrast yellow colour on the dark blue backdrop takes after the sparks from cars racing at high speeds. This colour can also be seen on the details through the sapphire caseback.
Beating inside is the Calibre Heuer 02 (ref. TH20-00) movement that offers about 80 hours of reserve. The watch is water resistant up to 100 metres, and comes with an embossed blue calfskin and rubber strap completed by a titanium buckle. It is priced at ₹10,00,000 (approx.)
