For French conceptual artist
Laurent Grasso, the cosmos is an inspiration, and giving expression to this idea is a new watch by Bulgari. The new Octo Finissimo Laurent Grasso Special Edition, which evokes the beauty of the cosmos, is a collective work of the brand's Product Creation Executive Director, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani and the artist. The 40mm watch, with signature elements like the octagonal case and bracelet, is crafted entirely in sandblasted titanium and coated with blue PVD, reminiscent of the midnight blue that embraces the post sunset sky.
On the minimalist brass dial, a splash of colours create an iridescent cloud, brought to life through a screen-printing process called serigraphy technique that employs metallic pigments. The skeletonised hour and minute hands, and the small seconds hand at 8 o’clock, appear to float on the dial, and are also coated with blue PVD. The crown is made of DLC titanium with a black ceramic insert.
Turn the watch over, and there's a transparent caseback featuring a cloud and Grasso’s signature. Through it, the ultra-thin automatic BVL 138 movement can be seen with its 2.23mm thick micro-rotor. It beats at a frequency of 3Hz and offers a power reserve of about 60 hours. The movement is decorated with Côtes de Genève, as well as chamfering and perlage finishes.
Limited to just 200 pieces, the timepiece comes in a blue-coloured box, matching the shade of the case, with the signature of Laurent Grasso.
