Watches and Wonders 2025: Bvlgari’s Serpenti gets an avant-garde makeover in the Aeterna

For Watches and Wonders 2025, Bvlgari introduces Serpenti Aeterna, a bold reimagining of its iconic serpent design. Stripped of excess ornamentation, Aeterna distills the serpent’s essence into a minimalist, geometric bangle crafted in gold and adorned with diamonds.
In the ever-evolving world of haute horlogerie, few symbols stand as timelessly captivating as Bvlgari’s Serpenti. Since its inception in 1948, this timepiece has transcended trends. Now, in 2025 for Watches and Wonders, under the auspicious sign of the snake in the Chinese calendar, Serpenti undergoes its boldest transformation yet: Aeterna.

Aeterna represents a daring step forward, shedding the serpent's traditional embellishments and distilling its form to its purest essence. No eyes, no scales, no overt details—just streamlined geometry.

Sculpted in precious gold and adorned with meticulously set diamonds, Serpenti Aeterna redefines the statement piece. Designed to fluidly embrace the wrist, its clean lines and commanding presence evoke an architectural marvel. The seamless bangle design, a bold departure from traditional forms, captures the dynamic movement of a serpent in its most elemental state.

Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Product Creation Executive Director at Bvlgari, says,  “Aeterna is more than a timepiece or jewellery — it is the ultimate expression of Bvlgari’s avant-garde vision. I wanted to capture Serpenti’s DNA, distil it to its essence, and project it into the future.”

The Serpenti legacy has long been synonymous with sensuality and craftsmanship. From the supple coils of the Tubogas to the graphic allure of Infiniti and the technical marvel of Seduttori, each iteration has marked a milestone in Bvlgari's illustrious history. In 2025, Aeterna extends this narrative, balancing tradition with cutting-edge design.

The absence of visible hexagonal scales, a signature Serpenti element, is a deliberate choice. Instead, they are subtly etched into the inner contour. Serpenti Aeterna debuts in two variations: The rose gold bangle, set with round brilliant-cut diamonds; Pavé-set white gold, set oversized gemstones enhance the three-dimensionality of the design.
