Casio launches its first automatic watch in forged carbon, the EFK-100XPB

The forged carbon is also a first in Casio’s Edifice line
Japanese watchmaker Casio, known for its quartz and digital watch collections, has introduced an automatic watch for the first time in its Edifice collection - the EFK-100XPB, a time and date watch encased in forged carbon, another first for the line.

Edifice EFK-100XPB with a forged carbon case and dial

The dial and case of the EFK-100XPB features a material stronger and lighter than metal – forged carbon is commonly used in high-end sports cars. Keeping up with the aesthetics of the Edifice line, the design of the watch is inspired by a sports car. The 40 mm dial displays hours, minutes, sweep-seconds and a monochromatic date display at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands feature phosphorescent tips to enhance visibility in the dark. The bar hour markers are finished with mirror polishing contrasting with the ground finish of the dial ring. The watch offers a 100-meter water resistance.

It is powered by an automatic movement with manual winding

A first for the brand, this collection is powered by an automatic movement with manual winding, offering a power reserve of approximately 40 hours and an average daily rate of -35 to +45 seconds. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback.

The watch comes dressed with an urethane band

There are a total of five new models launched. There are two iterations of the forged carbon model - one with a urethane band, making it strong, light-weight, and fastened with a tri-fold deployment buckle, and another with a stainless steel case and bracelet and a carbon forged dial of 39 mm. The lineup also includes 39mm steel watches with coloured dials that replicate the texture of forged carbon using electroforming – EFK-100D-2A, 3A, and 7A.

“The launch of our first automatic watch in India marks a landmark moment for Casio,” said Takuto Kimura, Managing Director, Casio India. “As a Japanese brand with a long-standing legacy of innovation and craftsmanship, we are proud to introduce a timepiece that blends the automotive spirit of speed and intelligence with classical automatic watches. With this debut, we aim to inspire a new generation of Indian consumers who value the precision of automatic timekeeping, perfectly crafted for the fast-paced, high-performance lifestyle."

EFK-100XPB retails for ₹ 39,995 and the other models are priced at ₹ 25,995.

At the launch of the first Edifice automatic, the brand also provided a sneak-peek of the EDIFICE ECB-2300, an upcoming multi-hand chronograph model, Sospensione. The watch is an homage to the historic TOM’S KP47 Starlet, a race car that led the automotive manufacturer’s team, TOM’S Racing, to championship victories in the team’s early days. The watch commemorates the 50th anniversary of the company’s establishment.  It is set to hit the market in December.
