Watches and Wonders 2023: TAG Heuer's new Carrera and Aquaracer Professional collections

Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer revealed new Aquaracer Professional and Carrera models at the ongoing Watches and Wonders 2023 fair.
From strengthening its Aquaracer Professional 200 portfolio with a new steel and gold bi-colour finish to continuing the celebration of the Carrera's 60th anniversary to introducing a tourbillon model, TAG Heuer introduced a bevy of timepieces at Watches and Wonders 2023.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200
TAG Heuer’s new Aquaracer Professional 200 reveals an all-terrain watch in a new steel and gold bi-colour finish – the first ever in the brand’s Aquaracer Professional collection. Available in options of 40mm and 30mm of two models each, the Aquaracer Professional 200 offers two dial variations – one, in black and rose gold and the other in blue and yellow gold. The smaller 30mm models are decorated with 11 Top Wesselton diamond-dot hour markers and come on a rubber strap matching the dial colour.
Both versions come with 12-sided unidirectional rotating bezels with alternating fluted edges and are equipped with Swiss-made automatic mechanical movements: T2 he 40mm with the TAG Heuer Calibre 5 and the 30mm with TAG Heuer Calibre 9.

A third variation in 18K full gold presents two models powered by the new manufacture Calibre TH31-00 with an 80-hour power reserve and a five-year extended warranty. One of the models features a case and bezel in solid 19K 5N rose gold (with a black dial that moves into a tinted grey) and the other in solid 18Kt 3N yellow gold (with a blue dial). Both include a high-contrast black DLC-coated steel screw-down crown and feature a lightweight, black DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium caseback that displays the new movement through the sapphire crystal.

Both dials are topped with applied, golden-edged hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova, like the hour and minute hands. They come with a set of rubber straps in black or blue corresponding to the dial and are equipped with black DLC-coated grade 2 titanium clasps.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph
Available in two 42mm models of stainless steel, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph seeks design inspiration from the original 1963 Heuer Carrera. The two models come in options of blue or black, decorated with vivid orange detailing, and sit on high-end calfskin straps. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is equipped with the in-house automatic chronograph Heuer 02 movement. The dial is topped with three counters: at 3 o’clock, a blue azure minute chronograph counter with an orange lacquered hand; at 9 o’clock a blue azure hour chronograph counter with an orange lacquered hand; and at 6 o’clock a blue permanent second indicator with a rhodium-plated polished hand.

The date is displayed at 6 o’clock and the rhodium-plated hands and indexes come coated with green Super-LumiNova.
The case comes with a polished steel standard crown at 3 o’clock; a steel round push button at 2 o’clock, and a third steel round push button at 4 o’clock. The watches are water resistant to 100 metres.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph and TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon: “Glass Box” edition
Continuing in the vein of the 60th anniversary of the Carrera series, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “Glass Box” edition comes with a stainless steel case topped with a sapphire crystal-shaped dome, inspired by the Carrera models of the 1970s, also a collector's favourite. The 39mm piece carries the curved dome over the tachymeter scale that runs around the edge of the dial and into the case. The flanges and indexes, too, have been curved.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “Glass Box” novelty is available in two models: One with a signature blue dial and a blue calfskin leather strap; and the second with a black and silver ‘reverse panda’ dial – akin to the Carreras of the 1960s. Both pieces are powered by an evolved version of the brand’s in-house automatic chronograph calibre Heuer 02: the TH20-00, which is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. It features an oscillating weight that offers bi-directional winding and offers an 80-hour power reserve. The dials feature three subdial scales and a date display – at 6 o’clock for the blue and at 12 o’clock for the black edition.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon “Glass Box” edition follows the same design principles of the Chronograph mentioned above with only the dial slightly elevated by an aperture at 6 o’clock revealing the cage of the tourbillon. Equipped by the brand’s new in-house tourbillon movement, the TH20-09, which is chronometer-certified automatic, the new Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon piece comes with a chronograph function and a 65-hour power reserve.

Available in 39mm and 42mm models of blue and 39mm of the black dial, the novelties feature a minutes scale on the outside edge of the dial with fiery orange detailing on each orange marker. The central seconds hand is reminiscent of the 1960s race car dashboard instruments with its triangular shape.

Available with a 5-year warranty, the stainless steel models come with a calfskin leather strap.

TAG Heuer Carrera Date
TAG Heuer brings back the Carrera Date in four new colours. The 36mm novelties come in a stainless steel case with a new tapered bracelet design. The bold dials feature a raised track running around the outside of the dial, detailed with quarter-of-a-second markings. Equipped with the new Calibre 7 Automatic movement, the new Carrera Date models carry a 56-hour power reserve and feature a date window at 6 o’clock.

TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma
Set with lab-grown diamonds on the bezel and the bracelet, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma uses the brand’s Diamant d’Avant-Garde technology for the first time on a chronograph case, crown, dial, and indexes.

The 44mm case, bezel, and bracelet are made of black sandblasted anodized aluminum and feature 4.3 carats of 48 lab-grown diamonds. The crown is a single 2.5K lab-grown diamond while the two chronograph pushers at 2 and 6 o’clock are elevated with a black DLC coating. The 4.9K dial comprises of 12 diamonds and three polycrystalline diamond plates with 12 white gold indexes also set with lab-grown diamonds. The rhodium-plated hours and minute hands as well as the central hand are coated with matte black lacquer and white Super-LumiNova.
