Going Green

Keeping up with the ongoing trend of green dials, Glashütte Original presents the new PanoMaticLunar in a new deep green dial.

Taking inspiration from the natural beauty of the Ore Mountains, Glashütte Original brings the deep green colour of the tall fir trees surrounding the manufacture into the dial of the new PanoMaticLunar.

An intense shade telling a story of its own, the forest green dial brings a rush of excitement whenever one glances upon it. The colour is played in deep rich green hues that will remind the wearer of the coniferous forests that surround the Maisons manufacture. Hand-crafted with attention to detail, the intense dark green dial is a work of art with the colour changing gradually as it blacks out around the edges.

This effect on the dial is achieved with the help of the experts residing at Glashütte Original’s in-house dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany. First the dial is given a coat of galvanic nickel with the outer edge carefully sprayed with black lacquer to produce a special dégradé effect. Then the entire surface of the dial is coated with transparent green lacquer that renders each dial unique in its aesthetics and gradient effect.

Apart from the fantastic work put into the making of the dial, what makes the green pop is the contrasting elements of the rest of the watch. From the silver-coloured moon of the moon phase display to the 40mm stainless steel case, each silver coloured element on the watch makes the green of the dial stand out even more.

The overall layout of the dial is also designed in the classic way with off-centre positioning of displays (also called the Golden Ratio) that gives off a balanced look and aesthetic harmony. The auxiliary dials for hours and minutes and for the small seconds are placed along a vertical axis within the left half of the dial, while the Panorama Date appears at 4 o‘clock. The white gold hands with Super-LumiNova inlays form a sparkling contrast to the Intense green of the dial.

Powered by the exquisitely finished Caliber 90-02 manufactory movement offers an off-centre hour, minutes and small second function along with a Pannorama Date and a moon phase display. Clocking in a power reserve of 42 hours, the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar in forest green is fitted with a brown nubuck leather strap.

It is also set to be available worldwide from all Glashütte Original Boutiques as of June 2020.
