Founded in 1845 in Glashütte, Germany, A. Lange & Söhne is one of the foremost names in German watchmaking and is synonymous with high-precision timepieces. The brand set new standards in craftsmanship, introducing innovations like the three-quarter plate and precision regulators. However, the company faced adversity when its production was halted in 1948 due to nationalisation post World War II. In 1990, Walter Lange, founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s great grandson, revived the brand, ushering in a new era of haute horology. The 1994 relaunch introduced the now-iconic Lange 1, featuring an outsize date and asymmetric dial layout. Today, A.
