After unveiling Journey 1884 timepieces in April this year, Victorinox once again turned to its heritage Swiss army knives to introduce the new I.N.O.X. Chrono collection. The collection takes cues from the brand’s pocket knife aesthetics, such as the Alox pattern (a process that create an additional protective layer to prevent damage and corrosion) and the materials it has been using to create them, such as titanium, steel, and carbon. “We have blended elegance, strong geometrics, and industrial codes in a combination of functionality, resistance, and innovative material mixes. The outcome reflects our industrial-derived ability to deliver modern sophistication," says Arianna Frésard, Head of Category Watches at Victorinox.
The 43mm case of the watch is geometrically designed with a bezel that seems to be carved with a sharp knife. The stainless steel case is complemented by anti-scratch coated stainless steel bezel, and those made of titanium or black carbon are combined with black carbon bezel. The caseback remains the same material in stainless steel models, while the titanium or carbon cases have titanium casebacks, all screwed-in. The screw-down crown is protected.
The textured three-dimensional dial in black/grey, blue, and red colours features three chronograph counters. The small seconds counter lies at 3 o’clock, the hour counter at 6 o’clock, and the minutes counter at 9 o’clock. The week-day indication is seen at 12 o’clock and the date window at 6 o’clock. The hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova® and on the counter-balance of the seconds hand one can see the reference of the design of the Swiss pocket knife. The inner bezel features an engraved tachymeter scale and anti-reflective sapphire crystal tops the case.
Powering the models is the Ronda 5040.E Swiss-made quartz movement. The watches are antimagnetic, shock-resistant, and water-resistant up to 200 metres. Flanking the case are interchangeable steel bracelet and straps made of genuine rubber, leather, or wood, which can be swapped without any tools. Ref. 241988.1 and 241989.1 also come with an additional rubber strap and an accessories wallet.
The watches are priced ranging from ₹64,000 (approx.) to ₹1,01,000 (approx.), and come with a warranty of 5+ years. The timepieces will soon be available for purchase at Victorinox stores, speciality shops, and online.
